iPhone vs. Nexus S
Google is still one of the iPhone’s biggest competitors, but only really in the mobile operating system department. Android has definitely been giving the iOS a run for its money. But Google’s attempt to make its own devices hasn’t caught up as well. The Nexus One was nice, but not nice enough to dent Apple’s sheen any more than the high-tech, app-crazed Android OS was doing already. So can the Google Nexus S, or the Google Samsung Nexus S, do any better?
The screen on the Nexus is a whopping 4″, the biggest yet. But even though this Super-AMOLED screen bigger than the iPhone 3.5″ Retina display, it’s only got 480 x 800 pixel resolution to the iPhone’s 640 x 960. So what would you rather have, a bigger picture or a sharper one?
The Nexus S has the storage capacity of the “smaller” iPhone, the 16 GB. It can only record DVD quality video at 720 x 480 pixels compared to 720p HD video shooting capability on the iPhone with 1280 x 720 resolution. The rest of the camera features are neck-and-neck on the two devices, both 5 mp, auto-focus, flash, and with an extra front-facing camera for video calling.
The two devices are also equivalent on processor, 1 GHz, and RAM, 510 MB. But little things like these, and even big things like the admittedly impressive Android operating system, aren’t enough to elevate the Google Samsung Nexus S to anything near a threat for the iPhone 4.
